East Liverpool is known as “America’s Hometown” and has enjoyed the distinction of being the “Pottery Capital of the World” for the past 150 years.
Clay was discovered in the area in the mid 1800′s and more than 200 pottery factories bloomed across the city. Situated in the heart of the tri-state area, where Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio share the great Ohio River, East Liverpool can be reached by car or Motor Coach in under 40 minutes from Pittsburgh, PA, and just an hour’s drive from Akron, Canton, Youngstown, Ohio; Wheeling, WV; Beaver Valley and Washington, PA.
Many visitors travel from across the nation to enjoy the city’s many fine shops and to visit the 40,000 sq. ft. Pottery City Antique Mall.
Be sure to take a break from shopping, and visiting our local museums to enjoy a great dining experience at many of our area restaurants.
Enjoy visiting the Museum of Ceramics and tour some of our potteries, including Hall China known for their teapots and Homer Laughlin known for their Fiesta Ware. Stop in and shop at their outlet stores.
Visit the stately Thompson House Victorian Mansion and stop by our Broadway Wharf to feed the ducks and enjoy the view of the Ohio River.
Within only 10 minutes of downtown, visitors can enjoy museums, potteries, horse racing, video and table gaming, historic buildings, restored mansions, dining, boating, water skiing, fishing, horseback riding, golf, and miniature golf, sightseeing and camping in several area parks.
Visit Thompson Park and play a round of Disc Golf or enjoy one of our local country clubs for a traditional round of golf.
We have several fine motels and a bed and breakfast available and we are located on the renowned Lincoln Highway Historic Byway.
We are home to the Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd Museum, a notorious gangster that was gunned down nearby and laid to rest in one of our Mortuaries.
